FAQ: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Who runs physicalgeography.org.uk ?
physicalgeography.org.uk is run by Peter G. Knight. Peter is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS), a Chartered Geographer (CGeog), and a member of the British Society for Geomorphology and the International Glaciological Society. He studied Geography at Oxford University (MA) and Aberdeen University (PhD) and is now based at Keele University where he is actively engaged in both teaching and research in Physical Geography. You can visit his personal website at www.petergknight.com or his Keele University web page at www.esci.keele.ac.uk . You can find out more about Physical Geography at  Keele University from Keele's website at www.esci.keele.ac.uk/physicalgeography , but please note that physicalgeography.org.uk is not owned or operated by Keele University, and Keele University has no responsibility for this site. Peter runs this site as a hobby in his spare time.

Why do you operate this site?
Peter runs this website because he wants to share his enthusiasm for Physical Geography. He sees it as part of his commitment to the discipline, and as a way of contributing to the UK Physical Geography community. This site does not attempt to match the amazing and comprehensive resources provided by sites such as geographypages.co.uk but hopes to make at least a small unique contribution of its own.

What are the running costs?
Although we use a "free" web host we do have to pay for registering and annually renewing the domain name, and we also have to pay for the amount of storage and traffic above a basic minimum. In other words: the more people use our site, the more it costs us. If we want to develop the site further to include things like discussion boards, that will also cost us more.

Can I make a donation?
Yes, thank you! We appreciate all the support we can get, and all income will be used to develop the site further.

Can other people put material on the site?
If you would like to add resources to this site, please contact the editor. Material can either be hosted on the site, or hosted elsewhere by the contributor and accessed by a link from physicalgeography.org.uk

Can people put adverts or "sponsored links" on the site?
Yes, at the discretion of the editor. Such material will always be clearly identified. If you would like to place an advert or sponsored link on the site, please contact the editor.

Why does my browser say it is blocking active content from your site?
If your browser has very strict security settings, some of the purely decorative features of the site (like things that change colour or pop up on screen when you move the mouse over a particular spot) might trigger an "active script" alert. If you choose to block the content you will only miss out on some decorative bells and whistles. Java scripts are also used in th esearch tool and the e-mail forms. This site also uses cookies as part of its "site metering" process. Check out the site meter site for details.
